PANORAMIC SAN FRANCISCO, GOLDEN GATE AND BAY BRIDGE VIEWS FROM ALMOST EVERY ROOM!

Nestled into a lovely wooded hillside 1269 Grand View combines earth tone stucco and natural gray slate roof to give a sense of old world permanence. Reminiscent of the early California Haciendas the house was designed to be a warm and welcoming private retreat. This work of art has limestone, hand plastering, antique and custom wood doors, iron hardware, copper accents, granite counters and cherry cabinets that add touches of rustic elegance everywhere you look. The home takes full advantage of the spectacular Golden Gate and San Francisco views. The many patios and terraces enhance the enjoyment of the beautifully landscaped hillside.

The huge living room features a massive sandstone fireplace, Soaring, open beam ceilings of salvaged old growth redwood, iron collar ties, custom made light fixtures and antique wood and iron lattice doors from India .

The house includes 4 bedrooms and 4 1/2 baths. The Master Suite has a big walk in closet, built in TV cabinet with antique wooden doors from Guatemala and a niche for artifacts or books. A beautifully appointed bathroom completes this comfortable haven. Adjacent to the third bedroom and bath is a large playroom / media room that is designed to be the fifth bedroom if needed.

The kitchen and family room provide a cozy gathering spot and the adjoining, trellised patio invites impromptu meals under the trumpet vines. A sandstone and plaster fireplace in the corner of the family room has a small, working bread oven. The kitchen's ageless materials stand up to constant cooking and frequent entertaining. The efficient layout and comfortable farm table lets the cook work while guests congregate or children finish homework. Other highlights are a commercial cook top, ample workspace, rough cut granite counters and divided prep and clean up areas. Storage consists of open, iron and wood shelves above and lots of drawers below. A large pantry, accessed by a dumb waiter off the entry above, also holds the recycling and pet feeding area.

There is also a formal dining room, wine cellar and full office with a separate entrance and its own patio. The fourth bedroom and full bath can also be accessed from the lower entrance making it ideal for guests or an au pair.

1269 Grand View Dr. was the first built in 1990 /1991 but before it was inhabited it was destroyed in the Oakland fire. It was the first of four homes that Servais Design & Construction, Inc. planned for the driveway with the vision of a Mediterranean hillside community using a common architectural theme and materials. In each dwelling function is as carefully thought out as visual details and views. Each property was designed for maximum privacy and 1269 Grand View Drive's 20,000 +/-sq ft double lot preserves as much garden and open space as possible around the dwelling.

The property is located 20 minutes from downtown San Francisco or the Oakland Airport yet it has a secluded, country feel.
